Committees

EQUITY: (Excellence, Quality and Understanding in Instruction of Talented Youth) a standing committee of the UFRPTA, is a group of parents and educators working together to enhance and enrich the educational experiences of all children, with an emphasis on those who demonstrate advanced performance and potential.

Fundraising: Through our fundraising efforts, the PTA sponsors activities that benefit all students at Newell Elementary and Stone Bridge Middle Schools.  Some of the activities we help to support include assembly programs, art appreciation programs, field trips, and in-class educational enrichment programs. The PTA also purchases educational equipment for classrooms, the library, gym, music and technology. Our fundraisers this year include: JUST WRITE A CHECK, Newell ES Walk-a-thon, Stone Bridge MS Brick Sale, Clothing Drives in the Fall and Spring, Labels for Education/Box Tops

Holiday Boutique: This committee sets up and operates the “Holiday Boutique” where students can buy affordable gift items during the holiday season. The committee chair orders the merchandise well in advance and will place an order on-line for the items they wish to have available for purchase at the holiday sale. Parent volunteers are needed.

Hospitality: This committee provides refreshments for Back to School Nights and PTA activities/meetings throughout the year.

Membership: This committee handles the administration of the PTA membership forms and dues, plus assembly of the PTA Membership Directory.

Newsletter: Keeps the community informed with current PTA events in the schools, reports from past programs, letters from the Principals, and other PTA news.

Nominating: This committee reviews applications of candidates for available PTA officer positions and nominates the candidates as required according to the by-laws.

Programs: ES – Halloween Fest, International Night, BINGO, Science Night Live; MS – Redbird Rumble Football, Redbirds Got Talent, Redbird Rally, Scripps National Spelling Bee; Reflections, Six Flags Reading Program, RAK, Assembly Programs and other special programs sponsored by the PTA for the educational benefit of the students at Newell Elementary and Stone Bridge Middle Schools.

Project Shine: A standing committee of the UFRPTA, is a group of parents and community members dedicated to beautifying our schools and correlating in-school enrichment programs for the students.

Publicity: Submits PTA news and events for placement on the district website and in local newspapers.

R.I.S.E.: A standing committee of the UFRPTA, is a group of parents, educators and friends working together for the benefit of children with special needs. R.I.S.E. provides information and support to parents and works as partners with school personnel for the benefit of all children.

Scholarship: This committee reviews student scholarship applications/essays and selects the candidates best qualified to receive scholarship monies.

Scholastic Book Fairs: The Fall Book Fair is a one week event held at the beginning of the school year. Parents are provided the opportunity to purchase books and attend the event with children during the school hours or in the evening. The Spring Book Fair is held towards the end of the school year and is an opportunity to purchase summer reading books.
